Accessibility Statement

The Standards Desk wants these pages to be usable by as many readers as possible. This statement describes what we have done, what we know is limited, and how to tell us about a barrier you meet.

Our approach

Accessibility was treated as a design input rather than an afterthought. We chose a reading measure that is comfortable on large screens, a colour scheme with strong contrast, and semantic page structure so that assistive technology can navigate by heading.

Structure and navigation

Every page begins with a header carrying the site identity and a section folder index built from ordinary form controls, so it can be operated by keyboard alone. Each section panel lists its pages as a plain list of links. Active pages are marked so that the current location is announced, not merely coloured.

Colour and contrast

The palette pairs a deep ink against a pale ground, and the accent tones were selected to remain legible against both. No information is conveyed by colour alone; where an active state matters, it is also expressed in text or a structural marker.

Text and typography

We use system typefaces only, so pages render without extra requests and inherit the reader's preferred font settings where available. Body text is set at a generous size, and headings are proportionate so that the outline of a page is easy to scan.

Images and diagrams

Photographs carry descriptive alternative text. Our diagrams are authored as vector graphics with a textual description so that a screen reader can convey their purpose. Tables use proper header cells so that relationships between rows and columns are available.

Motion

There is no animation, no auto-playing media and no moving decoration. Nothing on the site flashes, scrolls on its own or shifts under the reader.

Known limitations

The folder index relies on styled form controls. In a very old browser the visual treatment may degrade, though the links remain reachable. We regard this as an acceptable trade for a page that carries no executable logic.

Feedback

If you meet a barrier, write to [email protected] with the page address and a short description. We treat accessibility reports as priority correspondence and will describe what we change.
